Consultative Symposium on the National Dental Licensure Examination in Vietnam

The ADC recently contributed to a symposium organised by the Vietnam Odonto-Stomatology Association (VOSA) in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss and plan for the introduction of the Vietnamese National Licensing Examination for newly graduated dentists in Vietnam, starting in 2027. The symposium on 21 August 2024 was held in conjunction with the Vietnam International Dental Exhibition & Congress (VIDEC 2024: 22-25 August 2024).

Veronica Vele, ADC Director of Assessments and Examinations delivered a keynote address on Quality assurance of a licensure examination for representatives from the Vietnam Ministry of Health, the Medical Council of Vietnam, Directors of Dental Hospitals and Dental Deans. The symposium addressed many topics related to the development of a roadmap for Vietnam’s new national licensing examination, including best practice in blueprinting, item development and quality assurance processes for high stakes examinations.

Other keynote speakers at the event included Professor Suchit Poolthon, Chair of the Thai Dental Council, and Professor Zamri Radzi, Chair of the Dental Dean Council of Malaysia and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Malaya.
