Dental Hygiene, Dental Therapy and Combined Dental Hygiene/Therapy examination updates

Starting from 2026, both written and practical examinations for dental hygiene, dental therapy and combined dental hygiene/therapy will be updated to a new examination format.

Planned changes include updates to the examination blueprints, with a reduction in questions for the written examination and broader sampling of tasks across the practical examination.

These changes will officially come into effect:

• Written Examination: March 2026
• Practical Examination: July 2026

Further information regarding these changes will be made available in the Spring and Summer editions of the Candidate Lounge and updates will be posted to the ADC website later this year.

Candidates who wish to sit the examinations under the current format should apply to sit the written examination in September 2025 and the practical examination in November 2025.
