Practical examination announcement

The Australian Dental Council (ADC) is pleased to announce application periods for practical examination seats in August to November 2019. 

Examinations in August 2019 and September 2019

Eligibility to apply

You are eligible to apply for a practical examination seat in August 2019 and September 2019, if you:

  •  Hold a written examination expiring in October 2019 OR
  •  Hold a written examination expiring in March 2020.

AND you:

  •  Do not hold an existing practical examination booking, have pending practical examination results, or a pending appeal.
  •  Have not sat a practical examination within three months of the examination period. 

Candidates with a pending verification (but not an appeal), who otherwise meet the above criteria, may apply for an examination place during this application period. 

Application period

The application period for practical examination places in August 2019 and September 2019 will be open from Wednesday 5 June  to Friday 21 June 2019.

There are a limited number of practical examination seats available during the August 2019 and September 2019 period, and nearly 300 candidates are eligible to apply. Eligible candidates are strongly encouraged to submit their applications early during this application period.

The application period may close early if all seats are filled before the advertised closing date. Should this occur, we will announce the early closure via the ADC website. 

Examinations in September 2019 through to November 2019

Eligibility to apply

You are eligible to apply for a practical examination seat in September 2019 through to November 2019, if you:

  •  Hold a written examination with an expiry date later than March 2020. 

AND you:

  •  Do not hold an existing practical examination booking, have pending practical examination results, or a pending appeal.
  •  Have not sat a practical examination within three months of the examination period. 

Candidates with a pending verification (but not an appeal), who otherwise meet the above criteria, may apply for an examination place during this application period. 

Candidates with a written examination expiring in October 2019 or March 2020 are not  eligible to apply during this application period. We strongly recommend you review whether you are eligible to apply during the application period described above. 

Application period

The application period for practical examination places in September 2019 through to November 2019 will be open from Monday 24 June to Monday 8 July 2019.

Eligible candidates are strongly encouraged to submit their applications early during this application period.

The application period may close early if all seats are filled before the advertised closing date. Should this occur, we will announce the early closure via the ADC website. 

How to apply

Eligible candidates should submit their application form and supporting documentation via post. 

December 2019

At this time, no examinations are scheduled for December 2019. If you are eligible to sit a practical examination between August and November 2019, and wish to sit a practical examination in 2019, we encourage you to apply during these application periods. 

Additional information

In fairness to all candidates, the ADC cannot consider applications received outside the defined application period, or from candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria.

All candidates are strongly encouraged to consider the expiry date of their written examination. If you are eligible for a seat during these application periods but decide not to apply, the ADC cannot guarantee your eligibility for future application periods.
