Postponement of ADC examinations
16 March 2020
Update: As of 17 March 2020, the Australian Dental Council (ADC) has postponed all practical examinations scheduled to 30 June 2020.
The Australian Dental Council (ADC) continues to monitor the situation surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and is guided by publicly available information from the Australian Government Department of Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
As the situation continues to evolve, our first priority is to ensure the health and safety of our candidates, examiners, item writers and staff.
In recent days, the ADC has been contacted by many candidates and examiners affected by travel restrictions and site closures.
Taking these factors into consideration, the ADC has made the difficult decision to postpone upcoming examinations. Postponed examinations include:
- Written examination for general dentists and dental hygienists: 23-24 March 2020.
- All general dentistry examinations scheduled between Wednesday 18 March and Tuesday 30 June 2020.
- A mid-year dental hygiene/dental therapy practical examination.
The ADC is currently reviewing options for the delivery of postponed examinations later in the year. Updates on upcoming examinations will be made via the ADC website.
The ADC understands that these postponements will be disruptive for candidates and plans to offer affected candidates a rescheduled examination later in the year. Given the current uncertainty, we ask for your patience whilst we work through the challenges this presents to both candidates and staff.
At this time, we are not able to provide detailed information on the rescheduled examination dates or the options available to candidates. All available information is included in this post and any updated information will be provided on our website as soon as it is available.
We will do our best to provide responses and actions.
The ADC would like to thank candidates for their continued understanding during this time.
