Changes to the initial assessment (‘registration only’)

Starting this week, candidates applying under the ‘registration only’ sub-application type will no longer be required to provide evidence of registration and good standing as a dental practitioner in order to undertake the ADC assessment process.

The ‘registration only’ sub-application option is available to candidates who:

• completed their dental qualifications overseas at a program not recognised by Ahpra; AND
• are Australian visa holders, Australian permanent residents or citizens; AND
• do not require a skills assessment as part of their application.

The change in assessment process will apply to:

• New candidates submitting an initial assessment (‘registration only’)
• Current candidates who have already submitted an initial assessment (‘registration only’) and are waiting for an outcome
• Current candidates who have been asked to submit additional documentation to finalise their initial assessment (‘registration only’).

Over the next 2 weeks, candidates with an initial assessment (‘registration only’) in progress will receive further correspondence about the changes and how these will impact their application.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

1. Any candidate who has been registered as dental practitioner outside Australia will need to provide evidence of registration and good standing when applying for registration as a dental practitioner with the Dental Board of Australia/Ahpra. 2. Any candidate seeking a visa to live and work in Australia will still require a skills assessment and will therefore need to provide evidence of registration and good standing as part of their initial application.
