Common examination errors

We have been collating some feedback from ADC examiners about errors that occur in the practical examination that could be easily avoided. We thought we would share the most common ones with you and have listed them below.

Common errors:

• Providing a rehearsed response that does not address the case in the scenario presented.
• Not following the instructions on screen or omitting part of the instructions.
• Presenting only one treatment option when asked to present multiple treatment options.
• Not explaining the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment options presented to the patient.
• Not explaining the risks and benefits when obtaining informed consent.
• Using and working on the incorrect tooth.
