IAHA national conference 2024: Honouring our past and present to empower our future

The Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA) conference was held on 10–11 December 2024, immediately following the IDAA conference.

The conference recognised the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as well as interdisciplinary actions within the allied health sector. It also highlighted how sustained holistic, strengths-based approaches to health and wellbeing can achieve health equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A highlight of the event was the gala celebration of excellence in the Indigenous allied health sector. At the gala, Worimi woman and ADC Accreditation Committee member Kellie Gleeson was honoured with the 2024 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Local Champion Award. The award recognised Kellie’s demonstrated commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, working with communities in a strengths-based way and championing Indigenous ways of working and ways of knowing, being and doing. Congratulations, Kellie!
