Written examination overseas testing centres

At the ADC, we ask for and receive all kinds of feedback from our candidates. In recent times, one of the questions has been, “Why are dentists able to sit the written examination around the world when dental hygienists, dental therapists, combined dental hygienists and dental therapists and dental prosthetists have to travel to all the way Melbourne to sit it?” It’s a good question, and the answer is, we weren’t able to hold those exams overseas in the past. However, things are changing.

From March 2026, the ADC will now hold written examinations for these other professions in six hub locations around the world. So, if you are based near Toronto, Singapore, London, Johannesburg, Sao Paulo or the United Arab Emirates, you will now be able to sit the written examination closer to home. Of course, you are still welcome to come to Australia if you like – we love seeing you here.

Candidates will still need to come to Australia for the practical examination – this is not changing.

More details will be shared closer to the examination application period in December 2025.
