Assessment Process Overview

The assessment process is designed to assess your qualifications, knowledge and professional skills, and is completed across three stages:

Initial Assessment

The initial assessment is the first stage, and determines your eligibility to sit the written examination by assessing your professional qualifications.

Written Examination

The second stage of the dental practitioner assessment process is the written examination. It determines you ‘know how’ to practise your dental discipline by assessing your:

  • Knowledge of the science and practice
  • Clinical judgement and reasoning skills relevant to dental practice in Australia.

Practical Examination

The third and final stage of the dental practitioner assessment process is the practical examination. It is for you to show that you are competent to practise safely as a dental practitioner in Australia.
