Changes to the written examination booking procedure

After feedback from our candidates and our Candidate Reference Group, we’ve been consulting with our written examination partner Pearson Professional Assessments about how we can make the booking process easier for you.

We’re happy to announce that the booking procedure has changed.

Now when you go to book a written examination, you will log into ADC Connect as normal and confirm you wish to sit the examination, you will then be taken to Pearson’s website to book a location and then be directed back to ADC Connect to pay for your examination.

How does this help candidates?

• You will no longer book and pay for an examination without knowing where you are going to sit
• You will not have to withdraw from the examination because you don’t get a place in your preferred location, because you won’t have booked a location you don’t want
• The location booking and payment happen at the same time, not separated by two weeks

This will shorten the procedure for all candidates and relieve the stress of booking a location that you don’t really want and mean that you don’t have to withdraw and pay a penalty for it.

Here are some answers to questions you may already have

Q. Is this a permanent change?
A. We’d like it to be but at the moment, it’s a trial. If all goes well, we will make it permanent.

Q. If I don’t pay for my seat immediately, how long is it reserved for?
A. Seats are reserved for two hours. If you haven’t paid for your seat within the time limit, it will be released back into the pool for other candidates to book.

Q. Can I still share a payment link with another person if they are assisting me to pay?
A. Yes, you can. You’ll see a link on the page that you can click on and copy and then send it to another person. The two-hour limit still applies.

Q. Do I need to book both days, or just one?
A.You will need to book both days of the examination at the same location. Booking only one day will results in an incomplete booking and your seat will be cancelled. If your preferred location is not available, it means there are no more seats available there.
